During my undergraduate studies at Georgia Tech I have become very interested in the field of automation and control theory. Specifically, my interests lie in the application of these theories for robotic systems. At BHRML I have the exciting opportunity to explore robotic systems that are inspired by biology. I am currently working on developing a two-link robotic arm, which utilizes SMA actuators and a novel stochastic optimal control framework. The objective of the project is to generate human-like motion, which will enable greater applications of robots for tasks that require skilled human movements and/or interaction with humans. Other interests that have stemmed from my experience as an undergraduate research assistant include: optimal control, dynamic programming, neural computation, machine learning and machine vision.
